Wine and food adventure: in detail

Our French Wine and Food Adventure is perfect for those looking for a short mid-week break or a weekend away from it all in the French countryside.

Day 1

After arriving in Limoges or Châteauroux by aeroplane or by train (take a look at our travel tips below), your guide will pick you up and whisk you to the Chateau de Lalande, located in the beautiful Berry countryside.

After you have settled in, you will be served a light supper, much of which has been sourced from the local area, with a glass of wine.

Day 2

After a delicious continental breakfast including freshly baked bread and croissants, your guide will pick you up from the Chateau’s entrance hall at 9:45am.

From here, you will head to a local cheese farm, where you will get the opportunity to see how the cheese is made and of course taste the produce.

If this has whet your appetite, you will be glad to know that it’s now time to tuck into your 3-course lunch with wine in a local restaurant, where you will get the chance to taste some of France’s most wonderful produce.

After lunch, your guide will take you for a stroll through the vines, where you will have the opportunity to find out about what makes the local terroir so perfect for making wine.

You will then head to your first vineyard, where you will learn how the area’s celebrated rosé gris is produced (as well as the wonderful ruby red) and get the opportunity to taste some wines.

Now, it’s time to head to your second vineyard, where you will get a chance to taste some different wines and learn more about what makes Châteaumeillant wine so special.

As the afternoon draws to a close, your guide will take you back to the Château, where you can relax or take a stroll through the surrounding picturesque countryside, before your 5-course food and wine matching dinner.

Day 3

After a relaxed breakfast, your guide will come and pick you up to take you back to Limoges/Châteauroux in time for your flight/train home.

Accommodation:

Accommodation will be in one of the Chateau’s stunning en-suite double or twin rooms. Let us know if you have a preference for a double or a twin.

Special occasions:

If you are booking the Wine and Food Adventure as a birthday surprise or even for a romantic proposal, please let us know and we can discuss how we can help to make your break even more special.

Tour sizes:

Minimum of 2 people, maximum of 4. For groups of 4 people, tours will automatically be private. If you want to book your own private tour for a couple, then please let us know. There will be a small surcharge for this.

Travel Tips

Note: This trip does not include travel to and from Limoges or Châteauroux from your home. It is up to you to book this separately. However, your trip does include transfers to and from Châteauroux/Limoges airport or train station to the Château.

By train

It is possible to travel to Châteauroux (and Limoges – although this is farther south so it is quicker to go to Châteauroux from Paris) by train. You would need to get the Eurostar to Paris and then you can take a direct train to Châteauroux from Paris in around 2 hours 15 minutes.

By air

Flights to Châteauroux go from London Southend with IG Avion. Transfer time from the airport to the Chateau is about 1 hour.

Flights to Limoges go from London Stansted with Ryanair or from London Gatwick with British Airways. You can also travel to Limoges from Bristol, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Nottingham and Southampton.

Transfer time from the airport to the Chateau is about 1 hour 30 minutes.
